Turning is a machining process that involves the use of a manually operated lathe to shape and form metals and other materials. The process typically involves the use of cutting tools which are guided along the surface of the workpiece. Our tool maker uses a combination of skill and precision to create complex shapes and intricate details.
Manual lathe turning is an accessible and cost-effective option for small-scale prototyping and development.
In addition to a small-sized lathe, Zulu Manufacturing has a precision engine lathe with a 16” swing and 40” length across centers. Our tool maker can achieve tolerances of 0.0005” with the lathe, and even higher tolerances with grinding operations if needed.
